House break in last night - ?narrow escape for car
Just to say my house was broken into last night, he/they only went into hallway and kitchen then thru utility room into what was garage and is now playroom, so presumably looking for car keys, which weren't there. Also took my bag, which was in kitchen, no keys there either, but did have in there some blue side repeaters which I had bought from Scoobyparts stand at Elvington, so I'm most piffed off about that.
Read about this sort of thing on here lots of times before, but very unsettling to have it happen......just grateful really car is still intact and hopefully nothing else will happen

personally I leave the keys right by the front door next to the telephone.
In the vain hope that should I be unlucky enough to fall foul of this fate that they will take said keys to car and leave quick smart.
Car is replaceable metal, family is for life

Happened to us 5 times at the old house!!
The last time my mother was asleep downstairs and I was upstairs asleep. Heard her shouting at like 4am but thought she was taking the p!ss or shouting for her bloke. Heard him rolling down the stairs and for some reason I looked out the window...
They'd moved his Corsa down the drive with the door open and got it lodged in the hedge which was down the side of the driveway. Ran outside and pulled him out the car and he ran away.
They nicked her bag, phone and jewellry. His Claud Butler mountain bike and mobile...and nothing of mine due to leaving everything upstairs...including mountain bike.
We were going to get an alarm but decided to buy a geet big dog instead. Done the trick they came back a year later to find a Labrador in their face.
Now moved house and in a better neighbourhood but it means nothing!!!

Buy a alarm or a dog the scum that do this do not want to get caught if they see an alarm chances are they will move on to house that does not have one,if they do try to get in the alarm going off and lights going on should see them running down the road.if they are still there well give them the keys or kill them its up to you i know what i would do.

damm man, that sucks. good job they didnt get the keys, its pretty hard to steal cars these days without keys (well its not but crims these days are lazy) much easier to rob the house just for the keys. recently heard of a guy at work who had his s3 and a4 cab stolen via keys fishing rodded out of his house.

the thing with these people as 99 % of these scumbags will not venture upstairs for keys as they will have a particular car to get that night and plenty to choose from and wont be worth the hassle of getting caught (because lets me honest its only hassle to these people 1 night in cells and a minimal fine)

i was watching sky cops last night and they said you should take them upstairs with you i thought the same as a few on here sod that and leave them where they are easy to find like kitchen worktop i wouldnt want someone upstairs with knifes to my children or partners throat that would scar them for life over some metal id rather them write it off so i could get another car with the insurance

I saw a programme about this happening more and more in Britain. Apparently organised crime are finding it more lucrative than drugs and the penalties are not as stiff if you get caught. They ship lots of luxury cars out to Cyprus apprently (RH drive like us).
The gangs target high value luxury and high performance cars. The security on cars in general these days means its much easier to break in to the house and get the car keys or attack you in the street in broad daylight and threaten you with a gun and take it that way than the old school break into motor and try to hot wire it on the street/car park.
Glad I live in a very low crime area......

There is 2 ways to look at this point.
One is to think about your car and it being nicked (possibly) the second is to think about yourself and other residents in the house. If they don't find the keys and they really want the car, what are they going to do?
There all arsoles and they could do with being strung up by there *****, but there everywhere
