My bonnet wont open, i've tried the usual things, spraying mechanism with WD40 through grill, leaving for an hour, getting someone to push down on bonnet when pulling release etc but it still wont open.

Can the grill be removed without damaging it with the bonnet closed?

Any advice from someone who's had this problem would be appreciated, the cars an MY 00 classic

the cable must be stretched . i had the same problem luckily my grill was loose so i managed to get some pliers in and release it .

have you tried pulling the little lever in the passenger footwell thats how mine opens
