ferrari 360 and me

LOL, i just have to tell someone I finally had a chance to put the motor to a real test. Let this gut overtake me cos he was sitting up everyones **** bigstylee. So floored it at every safe opportunity behind him and there was so little in it I was very surprised. I felt a bit like the bloke from fast and furious . Superb although I don't think his wallet liked it He obviously didn't have the roads to leave me at supersonic but fair play to my ppp, dawes midrange!!!! Ahhhhhh

A 360 Modena F1 will do 30-70 in 3.3 secs which is just over a second slower than a McLaren F1 (AutoCar figs) & also hit 100 in less than 9 secs......faster than a new Porsche 911 Turbo.....thats very fast.
Methinks that the Ferrari driver wasn't perhaps trying as hard as you think !

Paul's probably right, just goes to prove that in the world of real roads, at sane - ish speeds, there's not as much in it as figures suggest.
(hence all the "vectra almost as fast as my scooby??!!! type threads)

Well that's three differnt cases I've heard of now, where a Scoob, modified like Pauls, have given a Ferrari Modena a hard time. Two cases were here in Greece.

My E reg BMW M3 keeps up with UK scoobies, including P1s, which was a suprise to me, on open roads... does this mean, through logical implication, it's as fast as a ferrari 360?
Having actually driven a 360 modena, I am pretty sure that A) it would leave a standard UK subaru if the driver really wanted to and B) I would prefer to be driving the 360 (if only because I could sell it and build a seriously quick subaru or three with the procedes ).

It's an incredibly good all round car. It is a quick car, even by todays standards. It is one of the best "drivers" cars I have ever driven, I am still amazed at how well it corners, but it was, IIRC, tha base of the most successful touring car of all time. It might not be as out and out fast as my subaru over some twisty lanes, but you certainly get a shed load more driver satisfaction everytime you decide to make-progress in it.
My M3 also has electric everything including sunroof, a good responsive ABS system, a full leather interior, extremely comfortable seats. The bit that really impressed me was that I cruised 400 miles from scotland to just outside london at motorway speeds (which may or may not have been between 70 and 90) on one tank of fuel, costing about 44 quid back when petrol was expensive.
I will be selling mine when I finally get my scooby back on the road, but I really can't justify keeping three cars around. I would have loved to keep it as a track car, a turbo rally car for the road and a normally aspirated race car for the track would be a very nice combination.

Moray ! what idiot let you behind the wheel of a Ferrari !
I can agree with all of Moray's comments on the M3, it is just fantastic. I use mine every day and as a road car its great but not anywhere near as fast as a Scoob/Evo from A-B but get it on a track and Brilliant!!!!

Not sure about the 360's exact figures but I'm sure it should still be able pull away from you if the driver was really trying. From what Ive heard the F60 is supposed to do 100 in sub 6 secs - shame it will cost £300k
Edited for 360 Modena figures (spider is pretty much identical give or take .1 of a sec):
V8 3586cc 40v
Weight 1290kg
400bhp @8500rpm
38kgm @4750rpm
0-60 in around 4.5secs
Standing quarter of 12.6secs
Top Speed 180mph

I know totally what you are saying and perhaps but the exhaust note certainly didn't make it sound that way. Plus I was far away enough to step on the gas earlier than him by judging when he was going to floor it. There is not a lot in a second or two on the road, he was pulling away but only slightly. He definatley looked shocked......now stop trying to burst my balloon
stats are 0-60 mph
4.3 sec
0-100 mph
10.2 sec
1/4 mile
12.8 sec
its not that far out.

I never said my car or any uk subaru was better or faster than a ferrari. All I said was he didn't pull away like I expected, and the look on his face showed likewise. The roads were not safe enough for him to keep the throttle down but i have no doubt that he was trying a little as at every opportunity he went from 70 to 150 If he wasn't trying why bother going to those speeds?
Anyway, I know its a ferrari and i'd like one too and on the track yakkaty yakkaty yak...
