Need help on WRX STI Type-R MY98
#1
Hi, i am from Portugal and I currently own an MR-2, but I want to change for a brutal car that I had the change to drive, the wrx type-r.
The situation is as it follows, I have some knowledge identidying the car, but itīs the first and only one that exists in Portugal, it has been converted to LHD in the UK. The car has 25.000kms and it is like new inside out, but the owner did push it but not much, now I need more info for identifying it. I think it is a WRX STI V4 Type-R Coupe.
The car is this one:

Does it have a small grey sticker in the lower right corner of the trunk with type-r writen?
The car when i test drove it looked very good mechanicaly but it had a blown fuse that disbled the speedo and the control of the center dif! That is what the owner said!!! Is this possible?
When I opened the hood all the pipelining was "SAMCO", all of it, looked very good, is this from factory?
Thnaks for your help, any other information about this car would be usefull!

Is this possible? i am not sure on this sorry. However, when you change the diff in the middle, it does change the display inbetween the speedo and rev counter, so perhaps it is still chaning, but it wont show,as the fuse has gone? Also, make sure you use the right diff settings, or you will knacker your bearings. Rev counter should be the main dial in the middle.

You should be able to tell what the model is off the VIN plate located under the bonnet on top of the right hand side suspension top. (RHS if you facing the car looking under the bonnet)
There will be model number :
"GC8E2DD" is an MY98 STI 4 type R
If it is not this number then it should be fairly similar check it against http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm (section 2.1.1) for an exact model match.
good luck
