When will you lot learn to leave your cars ALONE!!!

Car Manufacturers spend MILLIONS of £££££££££££££££££'s to get the cars 'Just right' - then you daft donkies go and raid Halfords for 'Go-Faster, Noisier' bits and pieces ........ Then, you come on here saying, 'My poxy Subaru AirFlow meter has packed up - and IM will not give me a new one under warranty - just because I have hung a 2 Ton Super-Dooooooper Air Induction Kit, made by Dicks-Buy-Us, on a meter designed for a gentle 500gram plastic box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As Del-Boy says - You PLONKER!!

Just Joking ...... do what you like!!

Pete

seems like the search is not working so i thought i would look through the archives for what i am after but i am getting fed up of looking now so i thought i would make my own post.

which air filter is best for my uk turbo 2000(96)???

have seen the blitz(nice but pricey)
have seen the itg(panel filter)
also seen the k&n and piper cross.
so many to choose, but does anyone know which is the best????

Wink

I would hazard a guess that your local Subaru dealer has the BEST one.

Not sure which one to get if you are looking for cheaper.

If you are looking for more noise and a 'percieved' increase in power then I havent a clue either.

One thing is for sure - the Moderators will move you to the right forum

Cool

If you want to retain the air box, most people "in the know" use the ITG.

If you want an Induction kit you make your choice based on;
a) Advertised performance gains
b) Price
c) Personal taste (looks)
d) Does it fit with my FMIC pipework ?

I use a pipercross kit, which suits me.
The purists might say that "oiled" filters can contaminate the MAF sensor, it might, but mine has been ok so far.

I believe that the more expensive kits use "dry filter technology".

Good luck me ol' china plate

Moles Dad.

i've gone back to a panel filter (ITG) on my MY97turbo, i had a K&N induction kit.

i don't think these any performance differance bettwen the two, but i know my car now runs a lot smoother and better on the panel ITG than the K&N induction lit. also i can hear the turbo spooling better cus i haven't got that SUCKING sound from the K&N sucking in air!
the K&N was sucking too much air! maily WARM from the engine bay!

as the ITG is back in its filter box it only takes in the cold air!!!

the ITG is about £45 and an induction K&N is about £75
i'd recoment the ITG if you asked me wot i thought

I'm with Mole on this one
Just about to fit my second one original has done 35000, apparently they are good for 40000 but i know of certain people with deep pockets who are prone to changing at every service, the real test will be if i notice any improvement once the new one goes in, part of me wants it to be better but another part of me wants it to be only slight so i know that the product has been doing iuts job for 35000m.
More than happy with it and i noticed the difference immediately, more responsive when i put my first in (35000m ago)
You wont be disapointed, especially if you have an uprated exhaust system.

Make sure you look after your air flow meter - some filters/induction kits can cause them to fail.

Thanks for all the replies, i am not bothered about keeping the air box, and i am not bothered about the price, so is a dry filter like the blitz(£152+vat) better than a piper cross or k&n??
and is an induction kit better than a panel filter???
cheerz again,

phil.

Red face

jesus mr pslewis wot rattled ur cage if manufacturers spent sooooooooo much ££££ then how kum my interior is cheap & the exhaust is far from the best. (MY97) simple mods like exhaust & filter etc can dramatically increase performance & not muller yer bits up
So the bottom line is dont hate the mods as long as they is pucker then it's all good & if factory fitted both insurers & warranty shouldnt mind, he says optimistically
