Top mount intercoolers
Is there a huge advantage in geting a performance top mount intercooler?
Would you need a remap to take full advantgae of it? or is it just plug and play??
Thanks

Depends what power you are aiming for and what other mods you have?
As for a remap it should run fine without, unlike a front mount, however to take advantage of the extra cooling and turn it into more power a re-map would be desirable. Presumably you would be fitting the uprated top mount as part of a package of improvements, a remap would then be the final stage to realise the power from those improvements?

Do you have any suggestions on a good way to improve BHP at a minimum expense? Or is it a case of if I want more BHP its gonna be changing the turbo etc etc.?
Cheers

A decat and remap can give good results without the need for replacing the turbo. As has been mentioned it depends what your after and how deep are your pockets. As well as increasing power keep in mind that you may need to look at your brakes as well.

Ok, Kool. When you say decat - does this mean changing the down pipe from the Turbo?

What car is it ?
FYI, I know a guy who bought a big name TMIC, detted like hell, replaced with STD STI (new-age), and it was fine. We assume that the extra size of the bigger top mount meant it was heated up more by it's proximity to the turbo.
