Default 100 miles to quarter of a tank!

Well....

my car = 2002 Impreza STI

I filled up yesterday using Vpower @ £1.15 a litre and thought I would try an experiment - not flooring it and changing the driving style to "relaxed in the sun"

usually I get 70 miles out of quarter of a tank...... today 100 miles

well chuffed.... anyone else experienced anything like this? - I take it the warmer temperatures also have something to do with better mpg?

Andy

yeah part throttle and closed loop will improve fuel economy,,,,,, i done a similer test last week but the opposite to work out how much fuel i will need for my ring trip convoy on saturday

over 200 miles i done over 1 and a half tanks, this was a mix of some traffic ( dam london A23 !!! and the rest was a trip from central london to dover and then back up and across to worthing and then back home via central london,, hence the traffic part pmsl

You do know the 2002 STi has an ice cream shaped fuel tank. You'll only get 10-20 miles for the other quarters.

I did the opposite experiment - flat out at the Nurburgring (as much as my limited talent allowed )
Result - 8 mpg average

I'm a bit fed up. Recently I've only been getting 250 miles until the needle hits the final quarter. During the winter it was 300 miles.

11.4mpg If all cars were based on their actual emissions some of us would be paying interesting amounts of road tax!
