What does anyone think about changing the oil in the scoobie at 3750 mile intervals?
A web site says that these cars (scoobies) benefit from oil changes at 3000miles!?!?
Also is it just as good to change the oil and leave the filter (at this 3750 mile service?) Replacing the filter at the 7500mile interval?
Pete
Edited to make sense!!!!

Do it !
Personally change oil + filter every 2500 miles or after every trackday, whichever is sooner. Can't believe how ****ty it looks after 2500 (even without track action)

I know I should, I just don't!
I'm either loathed to pay someone to do it, or I'm just too lazy to get under the car myself!!
Then again, I'm sure if I knew how I would!
Hope that makes sense!

Don't know how to do the service myself, but I too am considering increasing the oil + filter change to every 3000 - 4000 miles.
As I understand it, if warranty is an issue, you must use a genuine Subaru oil filter and recommended spec. oil.
The service doesn't need to be done at a Subaru dealer, however.
I wouldn't bother changing the oil without putting in a new filter though.

Changing the oil is a doddle. One of the earier cars to do it on. Just warm the oil up by running the engine for 5 mins, put a tray under the sump and undo the 17mm sump bolt. Let it drain until no more comes out and then replace the bolt. Refill with oil. Easy.

Is there a splash guard or something to take off on a MY00???
If so, is the nut just there easy to see?
When will Haynes do a manual?? is there one about at a sensible cost??
Surely just replacing the oil without filter every 3000 is better than doing nothing? is that right?

"if youre gonna do it, do it right!......."
- do the filter too, its not that much extra effort/cost
I get my oil and filter changed every 3 months (at present equates to approx 3k miles)
Also did it on my last car, engine was perfect when i sold it at 93k.
