Default Bought my first Impreza

Thought I'd say hi as I picked up a WRX at the weekend, though I've been registered on here a few years now I think

Very pleased with the car, the grip especially in the wet is fantastic!

Off to search now on whiney belt noises and spongey brakes...

Pics

Cheers

Pete

Looks good, nice and clean. Even has colour coded wing mirrors!

What belts are being noisy?

Cheers Ollie Yeah it seems in good nick for a K plate.

Re the noise - I think it's the aircon pulley, definately that area, I'll remove the belt and see if it goes away.

Calipers are still the early ones, they seem to stop ok-ish but the feel is horrid, 4pots are definately on the list

hey pete make sure the crank pully isnt loose as mine come off when i was on holiday in walses ( this makes a similar niose )and was exspensive to fix , it spins the power steering pump and the aircon belt , as for the brakes just upgrade the discs and pads as i did and it will be much better ,

good luck

The previous owner had the crank pulley come loose on him and replaced the worn woodruff key and cam belt etc not long ago so hopefully it not the pulley.

I changed the brake fluid for decent stuff over the weekend to try to improve the feel but to no avail, pads are EBC Greenstuff, don't know what make the discs are but they've got holes and grooves in lol, and it has braided lines. I'm at a loss with the brakes really

EBC greenstuff are not recommended for imprezas yellowstuff or redstuff but speak to Alyn at AS Performance - Rally Motorsport Specialists as he is very helpful and recommended by a lot of people on here.

imo the best way to get better braking performance is spend a little cash getting late model calipers (as they are a direct fit under your wheels in the piccies you've posted) or get slightly larger wheels to fit even bigger brakes under them (but that is obviously going to be more expensive)

Yes, Green Stuff pads are not the best! I had them on mine (4 pots) and didn't realise that this was the reason the brakes where sh*te. I eventually changes to Brembo's anyway and they're sooooooo much better.
