Default High Mileage Scoobies

Hello there
My name is Ben Whitworth and I am a motoring journalist. I'm currently working on a feature for the next edition of Subaru's customer magazine and I'm trying to track down Subaru owners whose cars have racked up some big miles - at least 150k. The idea behind the feature is to interview and photograph the owners and their cars, focusing on Subaru's legendary reliability and ability to handle pretty much everything thrown at them. The cars can be any model and vintage. Ideally, I'd like at least eight or ten owners from across the UK for the feature - so if anyone is interested in being part of this feature, please let me know asap. My email address is ben@benwhitworth.co.uk, and my numbers are 01243 267693 and 07801 384334. Look forward to hearing from you...

There is a guy on this Web Page that's done over 500,000 miles in a Scoob.

I think it was an Outback.

If I e mail you my address, can you have my fee paid into a Bank Account of my choice?

Regards

My WRX is 600 miles shy of hitting 200,000!

However, taking into account the first 50,000-odd miles being read in kms, this currently equates to a total of 170,000 miles. That's 120,000 UK miles in 8 years....not bad for what is now a 15 year old car!

Nice one Dave.

Do you use the car for work or only @ Weekends?

Also, do you take it steady or give a bit now and then?

Cheers.

The car is a daily driver - a round trip of about 30 miles, including a short motorway blast. This probably means I don't spend as much time on maintenance / cleaning that it deserves!
The car gets the cobwebs blown away at weekends, but obviously this depends on where I'm going, what I'm doing, etc. It also goes to France each year for Le Mans, which gives a great opportunity to stretch its legs (wheels?) and do all that high speed cruising that you're not supposed to do in these things!!

There's a bit more history in 'View My Scooby'.

Cheers Dave.

Thinking of keeping mine for a long time so this Darling Creature gets the minimum off me.

Hi Alan
Thanks for the message. I looked at the site and most, if not all, were based in Europe or America, and I need to find Scooby drivers in the UK...

Yup.
Coffee machine was on the blink and had been up all night with teething children. That, and being a journalist, should explain it all...

MY 97 Catalunya is on about 118, original engine and box, serviced religiously - just got it MOT'd today and the tester remarked that the emissions levels (0.01 co2 & 10PPM hydrocarbons) puts many new cars to shame! Reckons that's a sign of a healthy engine.
