Default Bugeye sti vs blob sti

Heylo all,

Ok, I know that the 05 sti got the DCCD etc, but I'm not interested in that.
Tell me about the last bugeye sti, and compare it to the first of the blobeye sti's. Power I'd imagine is the same? I know the difference in looks and interior, but for the extra money, is the blob worth it? Both would be modified to an equal standard btw.

Regards

If you go for a bug go for the prodrive styled one, I almost bought one and it looks far better than the std one, Don't think theres much difference mechanically till the 2005 model so all down to preference and budget you are working with.

I thought the blob-eye was just a cosmetic up-grade, but I do know the strut braces are different, so some slight changes to the front strut tops...

People are struggling to sell bug-eye STI's (£7000 ) that leaves loads of cash to go chasing 400 bhp !

HTH

Think the Blob Eye has a wider track, thats why it has them wheel arch extensions on the rear. Engines i think are the same, as you say body styling and interior changes.

Lots of small changes, that you may or may not notice or care about. Power, scoops, styling/Aero Dynamics, suspension. One small change was the steering which IIRC included a revised power steering pump which 'improved' stability at speed and manoverabiliy at low speed. These can be changed I believe in a bug for a blob pump setup. If you are going to modify it anyway go with the cheapest car to start with which would be the bug. (prodrive style for pref)

Go for a late 03sti, good prices now and a great improvement over the pre 03 (bugeye) model.

Agree, the Blobs look much better imho, altho the bugs with headlight conversions look nice too, and you can pick them up for cheaper and put more into it £ wise.

I like the blobs over the bugs though.
