Warning Virus
just read this on another forum and i would post it on here to warn all of you.
A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive ever. This virus was discovered yesterday afternoon by McAfee . This virus simply destroys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital information for its functioning are stored.
This virus acts in the following manner: It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your list with the title:
'You've received a Post Card from a Family member'.
As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened the computer freezes so that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+ delkeys or the reset button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently destroying the hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus caused panic in New York, according to news broadcast by CNN.
This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft itself.
So don't open any mails with subject:'A Post Card from ' As soon as you get the mail, delete it !! Even if you know the sender !!!
Please pass this mail to all of your friends.
Forward this to everyone in your address book. I'm sure most people, like myself, would rather receive this notice 25 times than not at all.

You've received a Post Card from a Family member...
The virus using this subject heading above is a standard low threat worm virus and has been around since Aug 2007 and although it is real, it's really nothing to worry about..
Virus Profile: W32/Zhelatin.gen!eml
Risk Assessment
- Home Users: Low
- Corporate Users: Low
Interestingly the propagation or distribution of the letter posted above by welsh scoob is in fact a virus in it's own right, as it is replicated by the paranoid user that originally receives it! it is not however destructive as of course as the message itself carries no active payload..

Try Nod 32 as a Security System.
It's free for 30 days does the lot, Viruses, Trojan Horses, Phising etc.
It's the 1 Microsoft use on their system.
£30 for 2 years if you decide to buy, doesn't slow up yer PC like Norton & other systems.
Good advice.

I'm using NOD32, great bit of software. Also worth arming your PC with Spybot Search & Destroy and Ewido AntiSpyware apps to keep your system healthy.
