My new wheels!
1994 Rover 216 on eBay, also, Rover MG, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 20-Feb-08 17:37:06 GMT)
Finally come to terms with the fact that my 130 mile a day commute is a) costing me £700 a month in fuel and b) putting too many miles on the scoob!
Therefore I have reverted to plan 2 - buy hideous cheapies and run them until they break!
I did think about spending 5 or 6k but although it sounds stupid, the only way I could convince myself to give up the scoob everyday was by going with a minger! Anything other than a banger and I would end up cleaning and modding it!

Dont worry - I have one too ! 1995 214 - in British Racing Green.
Same story as you mate, 140 round trip to work, I put 30k on the scoob in a year and a half - almost cried last week when I looked closely at all the tar spots and stone chips. I could'nt let it continue so bought the Rover for work. I havent driven the scoob for a week now and cant wait till the weekend !
Oh the shame of it though, on the M25 i'm in the oldest car as far as the eye can see!
Cant wait till summer and I have to suffer the traffic without aircon - seriously retro!

Yeah - I am pleased about the CD system - that said the central locking is knackered so it will probably go walk abouts in near future. I did with out aircon last summer - I had a Turbo like yours but the original owned hadnt specced AC - I swore that I would never do the commute without it again. I guess the scoob can always be called in for extra hot days!

Do you think it would go walkabout?
First thing I did when I got my rover 214 was drive to a supermarket and leave it unlocked while I bought some food. Its great to not be worried about dings or a key down the side when I came back.
So - SIDC sticker in the rover - yes or no?

Yes - definately go with the sticker now that there are several off us commuting in Rovers! Maybe we need Scoobynet to open up a new channel for us. I have got a giant Scoobyworld sticker as well - not sure that is good publicity for them though .
Do you offer a 'roverwave' to other owners

The thing is, I did !!!
When I got the rover I took the wife out for a spin, I told her that there is a Roverwave just like the scoobywave, she said dont be daft so I said I would show here the way. The next old Rover 200 I drove past I waved frantically - it was some old granny who couldnt see and didnt notice at all.
My wife called me a plank - true but you gotta laugh !
