Impreza RS

Impreza RS
I'm interested in purchasing an '05 Subaru Impreza RS. This may sound ridic but I was surprised to see the speedometer only goes up to 180 km/h (~110 mph). I really doubt I'd ever go this fast, but I'm curious why the speedometer's labeled top speed is so low compared to other vehicles. My friend told me the speedometer could just be replaced as the actual top speed is probably much higher. Also, it seems to me that the RS is just a wannabe WRX.. any thoughts on this?
Would you guys recommend purchasing an RS? The one I'm looking at has good mileage (61000 km), in good shape, one owner, and he was an older gentleman who took care of it.

Tell us what engine is in it and we may be able to have some guesses, but your probably better of on the NASIOC website (North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club)....or 'nabisco' to some!

Sort of. The 2.5RS came in 3 models, CG8, GF8 and the coupe, then new new age models all being N/A 2.5 ltr.
An RSTi is a 2.5RS that the owner has swaped the engine for an Sti jobbie.
