Just got a Geodesy, anyone got any recommendations on where to fit it?

I was thinking of velcro'ing it to the top of the flip bin, so that I can transfer it from my Scoob and my wife's car, but would love to hear if anyone has any better ideas.

cheers,

greg

Put it inside the storage bin, with the lid down it holds it in place very nicely. It's also very discrete and the lights can easily be seen from the drivers seat

If I put it 'in the bin' how/where do you stick it down, and where did you route the cable???

The kit comes with two brackets - one that plugs in to the cigarette lighter and one that you can wire in directly. If you want to switch it between cars I would recommend wiring one bracket in to yours and run the other off the cigarette lighter in the wife's car.

As for positioning, I know some people put it in the flip bin. But, I have
placed mine in the corner of the dashboard to the right of the steering wheel (next to the A-pillar). This makes it less obvious, still can reach the button to turn off the sound and can easily be removed when getting out the car (especially when you have got out and realise you have forgotten to remove it!).

I have a picture of mine if you want me to send it to you.

Cheers
Peter

cheers for the replies,

Neil, tried it in 'the bin' but it slid forward under heavy braking and also when cornering.

If anyone has any pics of their positioning, much appreciate if you could post or email them to me.

ta!

Greg,

You must brake harder than I do, cus i've yet to have it slide forward even with AP 6 pots in 'stuka' mode

Mind you, they may have changed the design of the power clip as i've an early one.

Question

So where would you put one if you had an MY01 and therefore no centre storage bin?

Just wondering...

Gregh.

Next time your'e in Reading we'll do a test

Matt, I suspect you will have to stick it on top of the dashboard using the supplied sticky pads.

MATTel,

As Neil says, on top of the dash, I've stuck mine above the clock in the middle.

Any chance of a photo of the cradle Neil? Just wondering if mine is different.

My Geodesy lives in the bin but usually with the lid shut down when I'm out of town. I hear the beeps in time to flip the lid up to check the LEDs.

If I have mine in the same place as Neil's, it slides around under braking. A little bit of Blu-Tak sorted that out.

Mine is in the bin on velcro tape. It uses the hardwired bracket so no trailing cable. I keep the bin closed and just listen to the bleeps. It is the old model that is not speed/direction sensitive and I don't think I will upgrade it because I want to know about all cameras not just the ones in my direction.
