1s that have been owned by idiots who just screw the nuts off them everytime they step in it

I think there all good just dont buy the 1st one u see unless its a minter, look about and find a clean 1.

The best for me is a Type R/RA

No real version to avoid. Depends on what you want and how much you have to spend.

Agree with James.
There is a classic design for all purposes.

If uyou want a nice road car, look at Sti. Buy on condition and if you do not know the cars intimatly, ask for an engineer's report.

If you want a road blaster that is magic/electric/fast when wanted then the R/RA's are for you. Remember these cars are bought because they are very quick, so condition is everything.

I feel there were significant changed made in MY 97, the Version 3 and later, so my personal advice would be to go for a V3/4/5/6.

You are likley to find better condition newer ones, that's all. I doubt anyone would say a UK one is faster than an STi. But STis should be remapped and run on Shell or Tesco super-unleaded to be safe.
