Default NEED SOME ADVICE

Need some help on this one.

I had my car booked in for a full service about 5 weeks ago, first rate work cant complain. The garage consists of owner, a youngish mechanic and an apprentice. I specified I wanted the owner to do the work on the car and test drive it.
Its came to my attention in the last 24hrs, the young mechanic had done the work on it and done the test drive. The young lad has been going around bragging he gave the car a good thrashing to his mates. The car was also scene being caned done a long straight 5 miles away from the garage by my work boss, he thought it was strange as he seen my car but I was at work.

Ive went back to the garage today but its closed till Monday. Where do I stand on this, what can I do ?

Cheers Phil.

I'd call them to say you know & that it mustn't happen again. At end of the day though it's a performance car so probably no harm done.

what if the engine was stone cold, or the driver "dry" shifted the gearbox. you dunno what thrashed could mean, a real proper thrashing.

id personally get hold of the young lad and either beat him stupid or get some truthful answers.

oh and not use the garage again.

just my 50 pence

They'll just deny it though ... I would.

I'd tell the owner the young lad has been busted by independent witnesses and that's not going to do his business any good at all.

You expect a mechanic to be sympathetic to whoever's car he's working on and if the young man does not realise that, then he not worthy of the job.

And I definitely would NOT use that garage again.

Ask for your money back, then never go there again. Give name of garage so that it doesn't happen to one of us!

Thanks for the input gents. I believe honesty is the best policy. So Im going to speak to the owner and let him know what ive been told from others and let the young lad speak before any action is taken.

Im not looking for any money back, im happy with lads work on the car, to be honest he did do a good job, its just that the stories that im hearing, im angry about.

My car is my pride & joy, took me a very long time to save up to buy it. It just worries me someone might of abused it.

Full refund, next service free and a new set of tyres as a minimum. If he doesn't play ball threaten small claims court. Had similar this week with a BM in for service. I was thrashing the daylights out of the loan 130i they gave me. There was some nut in a 320 trying to get past me. Then I realised it was my car

Went straight to the garage and proceeded to shout at everyone. Eventually general manager came down from his lofty perch and asked me what they could do to make it up. I told him a swap for an X5 might keep him out of court. We ended up settling on the above

Once heard mine coming for "miles" away, whilst sat waiting to pick the car up, but the dealers expect a Scooby to get some "punishment". Mechanic gave it plenty, as a owner might, but nothing stupid or illegal tho'....

Dunx

P.S. When I went in the machanic said " Goes well dunnit ! What mods ?"
So I said standard and properly looked after....

thats pretty annoying, i can sympathise with you, these cars are our pride and joys after all!

Performance cars or not, its not particularly nice to know someone who doesn't care about your car has thrashed\caned it behind your back.

One point though... is your boss a joker? Could be winding you up! Especially as you clearly love your car!

Yeah,
I had same experience at Subaru Doncaster. Went in for cv boot doing and young looking (17 ish) lad came back after test driving it saying its in good nick for a 98 plate and it goes loads better than his mates catalunya!!!!
Very happy with the job they did though, was a nice enough lad and accepted the compliment but thought if i wasn't as easy going as i am that the comment made could have landed him, and Subaru Doncaster, in trouble.
And to end, yes i would recommend Subaru Donny, and especially Lee (parts and service) to anyone (aswell as Lee at R N Golden Huddersfield, TOP BLOKE!).

You realise he took your car without your consent... that's the same as stealing your car

The loan car belonged to one of the sales guys as they had fecked up getting me a proper loan car, but I think that the mechanic (sp) who loves your car as much as you do generally wouldn't thrash the daylights out of it, while the monkeys who won't be there for too long generally don't give a ****

p.s. - If you want a car with performance, reliability and no bits squeaking or falling off, can I suggest that you follow the example of tosser in the BM and get yourself one

Went into a well known fast fitting garage for two puncture repairs.

Sat waiting, mechanic pops his head round corner. Wots scooby here for. Other mechanic replies two punctures.

Is the owner here was the nxt comment!!

yes said the other mechanic pointing at me.

You should have sen his face drop.

Makes you think what would have happend if i had just dropped it off.

Coz you need to test drive a car for a couple of punctures.

Seen the mechanics thrash cars there b4. When i commented on it 1 of them said hes only got a 1.2 fiesta.

Nice, so that must give him a right to abuse customers cars then

wherever i have my car fettles or fixed/serviced etc, i always stay with it. even when im in rotherham at scoobybits, hence the nickname "friday stalker".

only time i havent stayed with my car was when it was being repaired for three weeks in may this year. even then i was constantly on the phone to jason asking him daft questions.

Best way is to check the EXACT mileage on the car when leaving it at any garage, if it's only in for a service the trip meter should not have moved more than 1/10th, as I was handing the keys over I'd also casually remark to the mechanic that I know the EXACT mileage the car has done as well.
