Smile Help getting rid of a smell in a car

As above just bought a new motor for the wife.
What the problem is that the guy we bought it off thought it was a good idea to soak (and i mean soak) the interior.
So now it is dry there is a terrible stale smell in the car.
Tried the norm air freshners and the like ,leaving all the windows open but it still remains.
Any tips to get rids of it short of getting a full valet,i dont wanna do this as its not drity just smelly!
Cheers
Paul

Beef is right. The smell is bacterial so his suggestion is correct.

My car smells because the gearbox input shaft oil seal failed DOH. Box had to come off for £12.50 oil seal and goosed clutch. Underside of car and exhaust was plastered and despite a good clean still stinks of hot gear oil when in traffic.

Do I light the charcoal?

Hire yourself an ozone generator. We used them for getting rid of the smell in 40 foot refrigerated trucks that had been taking fresh fish to market and that REALLY stinks.

Leave it on in the car for two hours and the extra oxygen molecule will "eat" the smells leaving it sweet.

It looks like he must have been terminated by the antibacterial febreeze, its strong stuff that is.

Here is my top tip, trust me this works. Have a vindaloo the night before, save up any farts that you want to do throughout the day ready for one big blast, when you think you have a big one on the way get into your car and lock the doors and close all the windows. Let rip and sneak out of the door and lock it, a good vindaloo fart will kill anything in the car including that bad odour that you have.

Terminator, really.
I have tried the Vinegar thing several times no problem.

What sort of smell is it?

Could something be trapped in the air vents?

Intersted to know.
Regards.

Funnily enough there was a letter in the Sunday Times motoring section today about pongs in cars but this related to the aircon where you can get bacteria in the ducts due to the frequent air moisture/temperature changes.

Their recommendation was to buy a tin of Comma Air Conditioning Cleaner for £11.99.

You start the car, put everything on recirculate, close the windows and then press the button on the can which you leave in the footwell. Then you get the hell out of the car, shut the door and let it all do its thing for ten minutes killing the bugs and the pong.

And remember to use the aircon at least once a week throughout the winter to keep all the seals lubricated.
