Driving in the Big Smoke

Driving in the Big Smoke
I drove into London on the A13 and back around the Nth circular the other day.
I must have gone through about 30 speed cameras I reckon.
I believe these cameras are put in place by someone called the London Safety Camera Partnership.
Also to be noted was the relative lack of signage indicating the speed restrictions in place.
Now I am a bit thick, so I was wondering if someone can explain to me how driving around looking at your speedo whilst occasionally glancing through he windscreen to search for cameras, guessing what the speed limit is, can possibly be an aid to road safety?
Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

I leave it down to my tracker to tell me about the camera's lol
Most of the camera's on the A13 have speed signs near them, in town the limit is common sense.
Welcome to London driving.
