"with a Heinz baked beans can fixed to the end"
Pretty much summed up the guys attitude before he even got in the car.
Probably upset he wasnt test driving a Bentily.
Actually its a very confusing read, he starts of by talking about the STi then actually reviews the 1.5, ?

Why show a picture of the STi in a review of the 1.5 FFS. The STi has been released, the WRX is here and is sulking because they only gave him the 1,5 version to drive
I think the Author, Stuart Birch, had his name changed by De-poll, I think he original name was either Richard Cranium or Eric Tile Peanus

The thing is, when you read the actual review - its not half bad at all. The only real criticism is the dashboard plastics.. which is hardly a strong point in any japanese car; and that the 5 speed box needs work to get the most out of the 1.5 engine - *shock* who buys a car the size of an Impreza and expect it to be blistering with a 1.5 engine?
So he complains about those of us with Imprezas, which he accepts are always immaculate - - and then complains that the new one doesn't look special enough. Prehaps this is someone else who should join the Scoobynet massive on the Subaru marketing re-education campaign

The first paragraph summed up everything wrong with the old imprezas...spot on: never a truer word spoken
Subaru have always made a 1.6/1.5 n/a Impreza. And it has always been a bland, uninspriring box with wheels: Slow, thirsty (for its capacity), barge like ride, and crap handling.
So I guess based on the review: The 1.5 GL has improved somewhat over its predacessor

"John Fossey, the Subaru market manager, appreciates the cult status of the WRX STI but said: “We want the new model to reach a much wider audience – young families and also older people whose families have left home.”

I agree - Subaru don't really care about Rally Wannabbees ...... they want the core market, the OAPs, the Mothers, the Family Man - thats where the money is!
Why should they sell cars to people who immediatley go and change what they have bought?
