Question What electrical work can I do at work.

Have just been given a job to attend a customer’s site and tidy up/replace/remove kit from a rack. They want me to remove the UPS equipment and connect all the kit up to new power strips etc. Now I am a little worried as my company assures me I do not need to be qualified, you only need to be competent. What happens if after the tidy up somebody gets a shock from the kit. Would I be held liable?
Or am I just being a little ****?

If you have no proof, then I wouldn't touch it!

Assuming it is just that and everything you're plugging in (including the socket strips) have been PAT tested then you've done everything fine. The liability will rest with your employer (or their insurer) not you.

If you are mucking around with mains wiring beyond the 13A socket on the wall then you need to have the relevant training / certification (IEE wiring regs etc.)
