Default Good Head(ers) info plz

Hi all

Thinking about headers/manifolds im confused

Unequal or matched what is best? unequal keeps the 'rumble' what performs better?

Ported/polished and wrapped.....

What is best to go for, im looking to gradually get my car to 350-400 bhp

Seen many on ebay @ £200 mark are they anygood?

Cheers in advance

D

You get what you pay for......................and in the next breath.........just paid £200.

Good headers will cost at least double that and I've seen plenty for upwards of a grand.

You get what you pay for

For someone who doesnt know (me), why would you need better headers than the standard ones?

Best un-equal length headers to keep your scooby burble : GT-Spec

Best equal length headers for reasonable money, giving you more top end and a proper boxer sound : Perrin

Best equal length headers period / no money consideration : Full-race (best matched with a twin scroll turbo)

When you say "full-race" is that a brand or type? Any links?

Unless you are going for big output beyond 450 bhp you would be best to go for properly ported headers and matched up-pipe. As many on here can tell you from first hand experience this will lower the spool point, improve responsiveness and add torque right across the rev range. You will notice a slight increase in maximum boost of around 1.5 psi.
Tubular headers will slug spool and everything moves a few hundred rpm up the rev range.

I never mentioned the place of purchase, simply repeated that you'd said "you get what you pay for" and then gave a very "cheap" price.

Are you saying that Scoobynet is a utopia for bargain buys? I don't think so

Please don't think I was having a go mate.....I wasn't........£200 is very cheap for "good" headers...that's all.
