Default the wait is killing me

My car has been off the road for such a long time gettting mods done and it's now in scoobyclinic. It made 280bhp at 0.5bar but it couldn't make any more due to my boost controller being fried from my engine fire !! They are repacing my boost solenoid with an apexi one in the hope this will cure it !!! this was what i heard 3 hours ago now i wont know how its done until the morning the wait on how its done and what power it has made is really driving me mad

OK, dumb question time:

Your car manages 280bhp @ 0.5 bar. Mine produces about the same, but at 0.9 bar.

Surely the boost pressure gives an indication of the mass of air drawn into the engine each cycle, and this in turn governs the amount of fuel that can be burned. So unless your engine revs much higher than mine, how come it manages to produce the same power but with lower boost?

What have you had done to it?

mine is running a 2.5ltr closed deck block with rotated GT30r, autronics ecu and loads loads more. I'm expecting the final figure to be somewhere in the 500's low to mid ??? I don't know, thats what the suspense is On my old 2ltr it was 486bhp so it has to be loads more with the bigger block

It also depends quite alot on the size of turbo too. A small turbo producing .5 bar is nowhere like a bigger turbo producing .5 bar due to volume of air.

Steve mate, I have to ask... why do you need 500+ bhp? Are you entering into competitions of some sort?

i have never ever tried a 1/4 mile or tracked my car !! i just like a powerfull car and my idea of powerfull seems to differ from most i would take my car into the 600bhp'ish for the hell of it as it would not be much more expense but i doubt i could put up with the reliabilty issues and it would definately smash my 6 speed box !!

The block was machined by Chy Wright at Pennine Subaru, Hebden Bridge. It's an EJ20 CDB bored and linered with "Perfect Bore" liners.
