You could get a brand new Euro import delivered to your door, and have change. Or go and get one from a Car supermarket!
All will have a years warranty!
IMHO of course!

You couldn't get a RB5 WR new from europe or new from anywhere for that matter. You have to remember that it is a limited edition Impreza. Saying that it's only worth that money if it is a WR.

Seems you might be able to get a high mileage, private sale P1 for that price - which will still be under warranty for, what, at least 18 months?

RB170.
Shall I rephrase I meant a Brand New WRX.
Dont think RB5's are worth the extra (just for a bit of exclusivity, that only impreza enthusiatst understand, nah I will spend the extra on something else)
IMHO of course!

Well I paid a lot more than that 8 months ago for my WR although it doesn't have a mark on it and only 12,000 miles. Go for it, if it is a WR

personally I would get the RB5 if I where you, but I'm biased heh ;-)
I have just bought a RB5 WR for a similarish amount of money from Listers in Worcester, you won't be disappointed. As for comments like 'you could get an STi5, new Import yadda yadda' yes you can and those thoughts crossed my mind. I nearly got an Evo 5/6 or an STi5 but the fact that an RB5 is a very limited UK car has it's benefits:-
UK servicing,
Dealership support,
exclusivity,
widely acknowledged as being one of the best around,
etc
etc
I think I made the right choice imho, the other cars are great cars but ultimately it is upto you, go and have a spin and see what you think.

Matt

A top notch RB5 WR car usually goes for about 21,000k from a dealer and a top notch RB5 standard will go for about 17,500k but you can get both for less.
Having said that my dealer said they would give me an extra £2,000 for mine since Burns won the title! so that means 23,000 and 19,500 (theoretically).
But I would consider a P1 for that money...
The New STI 7 is also very good....

Can I just get this right:
An RB5 WR is no different mechanicly to a MY99/01 with PPP?
UK servicing - my MY01 has no problem being seviced by Anthony Betts of MK.
But have a drive and you deciede

The RB5 is fab and I have never regretted buying mine. However, I am now having to sell it.
Full details are on the For Sale bulletin board, but briefly:
T-reg, April 99. Warranty until April 2002. Just turned 29k miles, I have put it through the 30k service and it has new disks/pads all around and new Pirellis on the front, which cost me £1100, so that'll help you. All the usual RB5 spec, plus 6 stack CD and Navtrak system.
I'm only selling because my mileage is about to go through the roof. Call me if you would like to know more, 07736 174515. Cheers, Nick.

If it's the one at Wilson's in Chadwell Heath it is standard RB5 without the WR (read PPP) conversion.
Have a rummage around www.subaru.co.uk to compare prices and milage etc.
Regards
Yex - RB5WR and very happy with it

Dennisi,
I wouldn't worry the prices people are quoting are for selling a P1 back to a dealer without purchasing a new car.
Pointing out the obvious you try and sell any car back to a dealer like this and you will get trousered. This is no special reflection on P1 prices. M3s Elises Porsches its all the same.
For best look at P1 prices I would look at Subaru website as it lists all cars in the dealer network. When I last looked 25k was about going rate. True some high milers have been mentioned at lower prices but were talking 50k on the clock and cars which in some cases were not in great condition.
The point on P1 prices were that they were expensive at 31.5k new. Buy one sensibly secondhand and it will be a good long term bet.
