Anyone know where I stand on this one?

Last Sunday, I parked on a single yellow in a one-way street in Greenwich.

The street had the following:

Double yellow down one side, single yellow down the other, except for a residents-only parking bay.

The ONLY sign in that street relating to parking was the (white) one indicating the times the residents-only parking bay was in force. There was NO yellow sign indicating the hours the single-yellow applied.

Now presumably the YSPV (Yellow-striped Parking Vulture)took the view that, unless there was a sign explicitly stating that the single-yellow did not apply at a given day & time, then it did.

My view was, at least on a Sunday, the opposite! I'm a bit pi55ed off as I was very careful to check the signs before leaving the car.

Worth appealing?

Thumbs up

Always worth appealling mate, dont make it easy for them!

I've had a couple like that in similar instances, and generally if you state the case they back off.

Highway Code says that if no sign to the contrary, then single yellow means no parking between 8am and 6pm (I believe?), so if it was between these times, tough.

Not what you want to hear, I'm sure.

Appeal it!

They get so many appeals that quite often they'll just roll-over & nix it. We do it as a matter of course on ALL ours Doesn't always work, but hey! worth a go...

OTOH really check what all the streetsigns say. My guess is that there'll be a little sign somewhere that covers them, seeing as it is touristy Greenwich & it was a Sunday. Anywhere near the Dome is a No Parking Zone.

Good Luck.

I think in the absence of signs on the street, you need to look at the big signs as you enter the controlled zone.

Appeal!

Don't do nothing either. With, my recent ticket (discussed on Scoobynet), I received a letter saying it had been put on hold
