Default 2001 or 2002?

hey guys

ive been looking into a 2001 bugeye WRX which i will hopefully be getting in the next few months. Ive been looking at a few mods, as you do . Im just wondering the what the difference is from the 2001 model to the 2002 model. I didnt think there was a difference untill i looked at the mods that seemed to run 2002 - 2003 parts. 2001 car was always a different part. Am i missing sumit.

Hope that all makes sence. It did in my head

thanks
Chris

2002 has a tweeked ECU etc so has a few bhp more. Won't make a lot of odds if you plan to remap it I s'ppose.

Just winding you up mate, people either love the bugeye or they don`t. I like the classic shape so not really into the more modern ones.

cheers for the feedback guys. Just seemed a bit strange why there were 2 different parts for 2001 and 2002 cars. Just got a bit worried

They're just bitter and twisted because their cars are either a) old or b) look like transvestites.

Blobs are okay.. I'll leave them be

Blob eye (2003) had the tweaked ECU to 225 from 218.

The best way to tell is that the early Bugeye's had the ariel in the drivers side door pillar and the later bugeye's had the ariel in the rear screen heater element.

Mechanically they are basically the same and both run 215 BHP

What are those headlights mate? Morette? Have you got a link for where to buy some? How did you fit them?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm tempted to get some!

Early 01 Saloons had airbag seats, later on the buckets became standard.

Yip, they are morettes - fitted before I got the car I'm afraid.

I believe Subaru has bought the rights to sell the Morette headlights now - they can certainly be ordered from the dealerships as they're on the accessories list

As for fitting, on 02 STI's they're a pain in the **** I think because the wiring is different to the WRX (which the morette wiring is for) - shouldn't be too difficult to knock up a conversion harness though.

What you should have asked was Bugeye or Blobeye MY2001 and MY2003 respectively.

Eta Tauri Site Impreza Reference - WRX Frenzy Japanese Imports

Subaru Impreza Saloon (00-05) Review - Parker's

Note in 2002 there was a image change = Bug to Blob
