That damn ford at ScoobyClinic
Does anyone know (especially any of the lads who work there) what the best way of attacking it is
I've had a couple of trips down there recently and just keep blasting through but it doesn't sound too good I'm hoping to get some insurance work done very soon so another trip is on the cards so could do with getting the technique right
Is it best to plant it and get through as fast as poss or is it best to go slow and steady? I don't want to kill the front end of my car!
Cheers
Michael

when i have been it has only been a very small ford in the road and you could go through it at 5 mph if you really wanted.
Blimey i know it's a rally car but flat out will lose your bumper!

Cool, I'm defo gonna keep it steady when I'm next there. Last time I went down it was the day after all the floods the other week so I didn't want to take any chances

My Legacy's been through the odd ford over the years, and a fair amount of floodwater, up to a foot deep at times, and it's suffered no ill effects
The trick is not to go so fast that you make a bow wave because the water then tends to wash up under the bonnet and that's when you're likely to draw it into the engine
And remember, the first couple of times you try the brakes after they've been submerged, they probably won't work

not quite true, the trick IS to create a bow wave, and drive with it, DONT ease off or it will wash back on you, in the army, we used to traverse streams up to 4 feet deep with no problems creating bow waves.

LOL. I had all on finding the bloody fjord anyway when i went there!
The only clue i got as to where the Clinic was was seeing Subarus going the opposite way to me.
