Wink WET PATCH!!

Hiya guys & gals!
Please can anyone help me with my boring on going fault with my baby?! When it rains & only when it rains & normally its first thing in the morning, my baby runs terrible like its gona stall until it warms up then its fine?! It will then be fine for the rest of the day?! Could it be something electrical getting wet? I also noticed yesterday after all the rain that a tiny bit of water was dripping into my n/s footwell? It only did it for a min then stopped & hasn't done it since!! WTF!!! Just wondered if anyone had any ideas to help a girl in disstress! Haha!

Take your baby to the Doctor - you have a fault with it, maybe it's just a loose nappy - but you need to get your 'Baby' checked out by your GP

have you taken the cold weather covers off of the bonnet vents? in particular the one above the battery? if so replace it and see how you go. cured this problem on my last wrx.

could also be a cold start / idle valve problem. may just need cleaning out and putting back rather than replacing.

could also be a problem with the coil packs getting wet.

Mine does that on odd occasions too. Almost certainly electrical but could be any number of things. HT leads, coil packs, etc. are a distinct possibility.

As for your N/S foot well water leak, be a good idea to get it sorted as the engine management unit is also in the N/S foot well. Get that wet and it could go pop, not cheap to replace.

Oh no! That's not good! It was only a tiny bit of water! I don't know where to start! Where are the coil packs?! I wana try & find where the water is getting in before I take it anywhere, like i've said before being female & taking your car to a garage aint good!!

97MY with HT leads (so not the plug top coils or so called (but not of course) coil packs), I would suspect you need new HT leads, Subaru dealer price is £50.15 for the later 99MY ones (mine has the coil pack on the right hand manifold limb, yours should be in the middle), so not dissimilar for yours I wouldn't think.

The point where the leads goes into the head is prone to getting pretty wet and as the engine cools moisture can get sucked into the plug hole and cause tracking, once it starts tracking the only solution (99% of the time) is new leads.

Get a tin of WD 40 and spray all electrical bits, especially connectors to cam and crank sensor etc Be liberal with the WD 40. Do all the connectors.
Check your earth connections and consider a power stabiliser/earthing kit. Contact me per profile if you want more info.
If the issue persists then as suggested above, consider a set of SUBARU plug leads from Roger Clark's or the dealer.
As already stated, grill under covers should be in place.
