Default whats the best option

right all in january i will be getting my hands on some cash (£2000) i want a bit more bhp and lots of suspension.

on the bhp ideas are so different i was thinking de-cat system instead of the current prodrive one,rc induction kit and a re map but have been told that the exhaust change is not really worth it for what i would get out of it. is this right. any thoughts/ideas would be great

and the suspension i was thinking front and rear arb (whiteline) solid rear droplinks......dont know about the alk yet? and allignment hopefully all done at powerstation.

so what do we think then lads and lasses as much input please as i am a bit useless at this....

Assuming the car currently has Prodrive decat centre and BB...

100-150 for an up-pipe
150-200 for a downpipe (500+ if sports cat)
45 Green panel filter
500 remap

45 Goodridge stainless braided lines
10 Dot5.1 fluid
90 Pagid Blue/Ferodo DSPF pads

140 Whiteline 22mm rear ARB
45 solid rear links
180 Eibach springs

or
Scoobyclinic Weekend Warrior Kit 865

or
Powerstation Stage 2 720

Many prices may be +VAT and +fitting. You decide what and how much.

Personally, I'd get the Powerstation Stage 3 T25 AST's and cut back on the power stuff.

The PPP will have replaced the standard centre section which has a cat and resonator (silencer) with a straight through pipe, and the BB (BackBox) with the free-er flowing Prodrive (Scorpion) item. These parts are good, and really there is no need to replace them. The up-pipe on a WRX has a pre-cat which is quite restrictive and the car will benefit from its replacement, but get it done by someone who knows their stuff as the EGT sensor needs tweeking to prevent ECU errors. The down-pipe cat will keep things legal come MOT time but is the last bit of restriction. To keep it legal fit a sports-cat pipe, otherwise decat. The generic PPP map is OK but has high safety margins and a bespoke map to compensate for the extra flow with the new exhaust components will release much more power.

How to make a creme brulee

Four years treading these boards and I just can't help being helpful. There are many with much more knowlege than me, but I am half decent at pointing people in the right direction.

He doesn't know that the original poster has an STi, not a WRX so no cat in the up-pipe and no EGT problems

Previous advice still stands. If you have an STi with PPP I would leave the sports cat downpipe, you don't need to worry about the up-pipe as that has no cat in it. The STi panel air filter is fine, but a K&N or Green replacement will prevent you having to change it as a service item and maintains a good flow for a long time without changing. I believe the centre section bulge in the exhaust is a resonator and not a cat as can be seen here

Prodrive Performance Pack STI (PPP)

Best advice is to find a recommended mapper locally and talk to them about the options available. I'm sure if you say which area you are in someone will recommend who to talk to, they will be happy to talk you through the best setup for your requirements.

As for the suspension. Whiteline rear Anti Rollbar and whiteline solid droplinks with a full 4wheel geometry setup has a marked improvement on the handling, virtually eliminating understeer. I cant comment on the springs, but eibach or prodrive lowering springs are reported to be excellent - the other option is full a coilover setup.

Bearing in mind the model here is a Spec C have a read of this article

If it's got PPP then I'm assuming it's a STi Type UK, not a JDM. I think only the JDM imports were fitted with twin scroll turbo.

"Amongst other improvements the Japanese cars feature an upgraded engine with a 'twin scroll' turbo, and the availability of a more focused 'Spec C' variant"

No, the STi Type UK is not as tuneable in standard form as the JDM imports (and have no rear wiper, as apparently it doesn't rain outside japan !!).

I don't think you will be disappointed after a remap though.

Cool

so is it best to just re-map or add an exhaust and induction and re-map.
so after the re-map what else can be done to take the car to about 340-350 bhp, bus as said before i also want good suspension which is looking like the stage 3 from powerstation?

to get the figures you are looking for a remap, exhaust system and panel filter should suffice.

If you have the PPP and it's a Newage STi, then you wont need the exhaust/remap.

You could replace the sportscat in the downpipe, but the gains are negligible. Plus you'll have emissions worries.

You'll have a high flow panel filter as part of the PPP.

A remap will release a little more power. Say, 20-30bhp.

For £2k i would put it in the Stage 3 handling from powerstation and get some DS2500 pads & hoses.

It will go, stop and go around corners then.

i already have the goodridge hoses and ebc reds although im not happy with the pads!!!!. so that maybe an idea. thanks. but surely just replacing the filter will not get me those power gains.
it is the newage sti with ppp apparently 305 bhp but thats debateable. i just would like to get around the 340 mark.
