Tramlining
Just had my car serviced at the local Subaru dealer. The car has been tramlining ever since I have had it, but my wife was told it wasnt at the last service and believed the service guy, who said it was just a characteristic of the car.
Anyway, having read many threads about other peoples cars tramlining I got them to set the Geometry to Prodrive settings as they reckoned it would cure it. Then just got a call and they were charging me £60 +vat for the pleasure.
After a big argument the garage spoke to Subaru UK and they want to inspect the car - to give them their due, the garage has now waived the charge though.
Thing is, isnt this a problem that Subaru should sort out and not pass on to the owner - with the excuse that 'it's a result of having 16 inch wheels as standard now, instead of 15 inch wheels', because that's not our fault.

Same problem with my MY'00 UK Turbo.. I had 17" P7 alloys on it which made it worse...
P1 seems trouble free on that front, probably the prodrive geometry me thinks (yes, having one of my more intelligent days and have a habit of stating the obvious

It's got worse on mine since I put 18" wheels on. My mate went out in it the other day and returned with exagerated tales of an incident that nearly turned him into a hedge. Made me laugh...until I remembered he was in my car.....wonker!

Tramlining will be more noticeable with wider tyres. Geometry isn't always the "only" cause as tyre pressure and, IMHO far more importantly, make sure the tyres have a decent amount of tread on them as the more they wear the worse the tramlining will get.

My standard tyres had taken up tramlining big time (were fine when new), replaced them yesterday with a set of 17s and Toyos, and as if by magic I can drive in a straight line again. So I can only agree that it is down to the lack of tread. Hopefully will see more than 4.5k from these tyres though
