Your chance to be in EVO magazine !!
#1
The SIDC has been asked to help out with arranging a "buying guide" section in a future release of EVO for the Impreza.
What we are looking for is good examples of cars, preferably as standard as possible.
* A very early car 1994 ish
* 1997 ish
* and then a special, something like an RB5 or P1.
No imports please, we're British !
Anyone who wishes to be considered will need to be available in the week, in around 2 weeks time and the shoot will take place in Norwich.
There will be a profile on the owner as well as the car, so if you want some fame, this is it ! I'm sure EVO can let you have some excellent quality shots of your car too.
Interested ? email us at Iwanttobefamous@sidc.co.uk (or just info@sidc.co.uk if you like ASAP
cheers

Just a quick note..I've had tonnes of replies so far, I haven't got time to reply to each one and in any event I'll just pass the lot onto EVO (of course I may lose a few or promote a few depending on bribes ) so worry not if you don't hear anything for a day or so...

SIDC,
I would love to have my car down but sadly it is an import,type r sti 2 door, evo do have a bias towards uk scoobs I think, and it has been mentioned in the p1 evo 6 showdown. Would like to see a few uk 22bs in there as there cant be many left know as only 16 or 14 were officially imported ( these must be classed as arare ,rare example.

Sorry to Lee as I've sent a similar reply via his email on IWOC.
Anyway.
so, no imports, so no fame for the black beast
Why no imports though?
As mentioned they have run and do run 'greys' on thier fast fleet.
Also, they have done a buying guide on Skylines, and this included the R32, which, and correct me if I'm wrong, was never offically imported, the offical ones were/are R33 and R34. So don'y give crap about appealing to the majority. What about their buying guide on Lambo's and F40's! hardly mainstream!
Maybe IM has pressured them into not including imports, or maybe it's cos readers might confuse an import WRX with the New Age WRX - doubt it, as piece of art vs bug eyed monster!
If Evo wants to include imports and want an example of slightly modded MY94 WRX Wagon then they can have chat to me.

Highly unlikely that there will be a 22B. Why ? because this is a buying guide for 2nd hand imprezas that will appeal to the majority, so we are talking older cars here and some of the more desirable ones, but the asking price for a 22B UK makes it a very specialised 2nd hand market.
I'll be passing on all the details anyway so if EVO change their minds..

Some guide when they don't want advice about all the options.
The buying guide in this months EVO suggested all imports are tarred with the same brush, yet they review the Nissan sunny GTIR, which they say are only 65ish UK examples!
Grr, their recent impreza long termer was an STI IV, and they have an EVO RS on now!
I just hope they don't need any imports because they already know so much about them.
Justin (who, er.. well, owns an import )

Thought I'd drop a line to EVO, which I did, asking why they are not mentioning imports, etc...
This is the reply I got back.
---- BEGINS ----
Dear Mark
Roger Green who writes our buying guides says that there's so much to write about the many UK cars that there wouldn't be enough room to do justice to the equally vast range of grey imports, ie all the generations of Japanese spec cars. The greys will be mentioned but they deserve a guide all their own.

So, sounds like an import guide might be coming. I'd be up for that!
Glad I got a reply - was not expecting one

Well, they can feature CK1 if they want to show potential buyers what happens when you drive your award winning, high performance, ultra reliable, WRC winning derivative too hard.
