What can i say, except that i am disgusted with an article written in a certain mag. (no names)

OK the author went out of his way to distance himself from condoning such behavior. but IMO the article should not have seen the light of day!

As we all know performance car drivers generally get a lot of bad press (fast car = dangerous driving etc etc...) but the activity featured was beyond all common sense.

What was it? HUMPBACKED BRIDGE JUMPING!!!

Dont get me wrong, i have nothing against having a bit of fun with your car, were all guilty of having a blast now and again, thats all part of fast car ownership. But what are these guys trying to do KILL themselves! (or others).

Am i missing something here? i think not!

Rant Over (well sort of)

Steve.

I did some jumps over some crests in the Peak district national park in August and it is bloody good fun.

I know the guy and he is as safe as they come.
I'd be very surprised if it was actually done for real. For one thing, leaning out of the window and landing at that speed would decapitate you.
jus' my two pence.

Thumbs up

Redline yeah?? I read it as well and got the impression the whole thing was tongue in cheek. Made me laugh, didn't in anyway suggest it was anything more than a joke... IMHO

It was meant as a tongue in cheek article I'm sure and was rounded off with a series of photos of one of their cars that had tried it and f**ked it.
I still think it was a bit of a twattish thing to put in a mag some of whose readers might be tempted to try this. We all know that there's a time and a place for these things but young matey boy might not.
Still remember that Mpeg clip that was posted on here ages ago of the guy (in an Integra I think) being videoed by his mates jumping a bridge, wiping out and killing himself. Not big. Not clever.

PS. First time I've ever read that mag - what does "slammed" mean??

Ok it was prob done as a bit of a joke.

But what conserns me is that some youngster will read it and think 'that looks cool'. a fair chance that he will become the next fatal stat.

Humpbacked bridges are prob one of the worsed obstuctions a driver will come across, completely blind and should be taken with great care (you never know whats coming!) another thing nobody seems to sound there horn anymore.

Redline, great cars, even better babes and every issue gives me a laugh.

I think most of you will appreciate where im coming from on this, have fun, love your car for what it is,(a ROAD car NOT a 300 grand WRC monster) and for Gods sake dont kill yourself.

Have a GREAT Xmas everyone.

Steve

I know someone who jumped his car over a hump back, didn't mean to. As he landed his gearbox dropped out.

Luckily my example is from the days you could drive to the south coast and not drive past another car. (Difficult to imagine but true!)
Cue the flames etc.....

If i remember rightly someone in a P1 at a Scoobynet/SIDC meet jumped off a hump back bridge, landed, cracked the windscreen and set the airbags off.

Have to agree that whilst mag may have meant it as a joke there will be people who will think it is a good idea and try and copy it with perhaps disastrous results.

Regards

A (usually small) bridge with an arch in the middle so it makes it a half circle. So you get a "hump" like a camel. They're generally over canals or narrow river crossings.

What do you expect from a magazine that is done by ex-Max Power people!? I stopped buying Redline months ago cos it has gone down to the same level as Max Power.
