Do these signs work?
We have all seen them.
"No tools left in this vehicle overnight" on builders vans.
Also "No drugs left in this vehicle overnight" seen on a mobile breast cancer screening trailer.
Do potential villains read them & move on or do they have a look-see on the off chance anyway? Would they think that if you have gone to the trouble of putting a sign up that you would also have enough savvy to not leave anything of value lying around?
There have been a lot of reports of cars being broken into to steal Sat Navs. Some had been foolishly left in their cradle in full view so it's no wonder they went walkabout. Others had been put "safely" out of sight in the glove box but the tell tale mark of the mounting sucker had given a clue to them maybe being in the car.
Would a sticker saying something like "No Sat Nav left in this vehicle" deter anyone? Or would it by reverse logic advertise the fact that there might be one in the car?
I never leave anything of value in mine day or night unless I leave the wife in the car on guard.

You could put a sign up saying "No fit bird left in this vehicle overnight"
People are always going to have a look.
Just because the sign is put there in the first place.

What's with the "Wet paint" sign? Why do we have to touch it just in case it's not wet? We know it's been put there for a reason but we still have to check.

Wouldn't it be better not to advertise that you are a doctor then they wouldn't suspect or does it have a big sign saying doctor and a flashing light!

If you're not leaving anything of value in the car, it's a good idea to leave the glovebox etc open so that ******* can see there's nothing there.

A lot of shops leave the till drawer open over night so any opportunist thief will see it through the window & move on leaving the said window intact.
It's a sort of "bluff" & "double bluff" situation.
If you genuinely haven't got anything hidden & you have taken it with you will they call your bluff anyway?
Do tradesmen religiously unload their vans of tools every night? Some probably do especially those that have had stuff stolen before but many probably don't.

Norwich union are issuing their customers with a sign stating "Nothing of value left in vehicle" one of our neighbors had it in their car and some tw*t still broke the window and trashed the inside looking for anything.
Goes to show they either can't read English or read, or think it might be a bluff.
Bit like roulette really.

Remeber reading a story about a community centre that had been burgled three times in the space of a few months. They put a notice up saying "nothing left to steal" someone broke in and left the note "just checking"
The signs are as much of a deterrent as anything else. Remeber the Viz top tip? "Car thieves, don't be dismayed if there are no valuables sitting in view, they're probably in the glove box or under the driver's seat"
5t.
