Red face Alarm problem.

Don't know whether anyone else has experienced this.

MY03 STI type UK with factory fit alarm, each morning when I go to start the car from cold as I turn the key from 'ignition on' to start the engine the alarm sounds breifly before the engine fires, as soon as the engine is running the alarm stops.

Any help appreciated.

Some alarms give off a beep on start up if the alarm has activated since it was locked - Kind of a 'high I've been tampered with'

Could be a setting problem - that its set to do this at every start rather than just if the alarm has been activated - If you've got a user manual for the alarm it should tell you how to shut it off or change the setting

Probably not much use but might give you somewhere to start

The man who could help you has been banned, as he works for the company who makes the alarm ($igma). Have a look in Policy if you want further info.

Me myself having worked in the car alarm industry will fill you in and suggest your car battery is discharged or on it way out. As this sympton is often due to too much voltage drop when cranking, which interferes with the alarm due to insuffincent supply voltage.

This will be more pronounced on cars which are used for short journerys or only used at weekends, especially with trackers fitted etc.

check your car battery. The drain of the starter could be lowering the voltage to much, and making the alarm chirp.

I had similar problems with my MY02 STi recently. Changed the battery and all was well.

Oh and when you get it swapped, drive with your side lights on all the time, it helps the alternator to keep the battery topped up better
