I'm still on a hunt to get a P1.

I test drove a P1 today- the idle was around 800 revs and was rock solid.

However when I drove the car as I went up the revs especially in the higher gears 3,4 and 5. There was a strange noise.

It would come on at around 2500 revs and continue until around 3500, then fade away.

It was like a light scratching mettalic noise. It sounded like it was in front of the driver, possbily slightly to the right.

It did it every time in that range- I drove the car for around an hour.


Anyone heard, knows about this?

Can't help, but what was the owners answer to the problem.

I have something like that it's the heat shield on my car.
Be careful, take someone who knows what to look for, as it could be fooked!!

How much you looking at spending??

sounds like the range where the turbo would be spooling up, are you sure it wasnt just spool up 'wooshing' induction type noise ?

I have asked the Subaru 'technical' bloke to look at it at the dealership it is for sale at. It is the car on the Subaru website at the Abergavenny dealership.

Does anyone know anything about the car?

Not sure if it helps, but my my05 sti PPP makse this noise; dealer coudn't find the reason. Ah btw: it just started to do it from one day.... However on mine tends to go away after 1 hour of driving, but not always. And I don't have a heat shiled so that is out of the question. Also I get the sound only while driving
