AFAIK any car registered after 23rd March 06 which is in emissions band G (226g+) has gone up to £300 and will be £400 next year.

Basically any turbo impreza on an 06 plate or newer will be hit as will most 4X4s and many big engined cars like Audi TT 3.2 , Mondeo 3.0 etc....

Question

Is it definately only for cars registered after 23rd March 06? Couldn't find a reference to this (although I've not looked very hard!).

Hope so as my scoob is on a 54 plate.

Dave.

I'm pretty sure that it's only March 23rd 06 onwards.

Blobeye WRX is under 226g, but STi and both Hawkeyes are over, so are in band G if registered after the above date.

Classics will be OK as up to 2001, road tax just goes on engine size, not emissions (above or below 1500cc).

So if you've got a pre '06 car of any type, the tax goes up by £10 this year and £5 next (I think).

Can you get a car re-rated?

ie: if i was to get a map installed on my car that made it fall below 226 could i get this verified and have it moved to a lower banding?

Thats an intersting idea as you could have dual switchable maps done. One for passing the below 226 limit and the other for fun driving

A lot of MPV's and people carriers are in the new bracket too.... Renault Espace 2.2 DCi and 2.0T, Kia Sedona 2.7 V6, All the Land Rover Disco's but not the Lexus RX 400h's/ GS 450h's, Boxster 2.7 and all the Honda's except the Legends

Only cars registered after March 2006 fall into the £300 catagory.
I have just checked the DVLA Website and my 54 reg WR1 which pumps out 265g/Km will now cost £205 a year.
Use the following link and click on the vehicle enquiry link to check out your car

Your S202 being an import is not type approved so does not have a CO2 rating applied to it so gets put in the TC11 over 1549cc tax bracket

Just taxed my MY04 JDM STi for £175 (day before budget LOL)

Any import with SVA will be the same

I think now they have to go through type approval

Think it de-values the 06 cars against the older cars come selling time.

Especially next year £210 road tax for MY05STI against £400 RT for MY06STI thats going to be £570 saving over three years may be a factor to some buyers.
