What model year? Do you want to keep your warranty?
I've got a PPP on a my00 which I can highly recommend A bit expensive in the UK, but then you get to keep your warranty too!

Ok I've been toying with the idea of a new ecu for a while and whilst I had settled for a unichip most people have been recomending the link, Stef has also confused me further by praising the prodrive ecu heavily - so do I unichip or save up more cash for one of the alternatives?
Comments would be appreciated.

So, it sounds like you have already blown the warranty.
IMHO the PPP will probably be too mild a state of tune - it is a fixed tune set up by Prodrive to work with a mild upgrade of breathing - back box and panel filter.
To fully exploit a straight through system and induction kit you probably want an upgrade that is
a) tunable to the mods on your car
b) will optimally exploit the investment you have made in your mods
c) can be changed should you change your mods.
On this basis UK experience would suggest Unichip, Link and Motec (in increasing order of cost).
Unichip piggybacks on the standard ECU and so is a good compromise.
LINK and Motec are full replacements with each having it's own quirks and set quality. I have had it reported from a very, very good source that for late cars it is difficult to justify the cost of the Motec over the LINK as the later LINK ECU and software are very good - there is a UK car in Scotland with LINK, D/P etc that is running Sti (or better than) levels of power and torque.
So, decide what your priorities are and speak to both Powerstation (Unichip and Motec) and Bob Rawle at BR Developments (Link and all things ECU ).
Cheers,
R

The thing that stopped me getting the PPP was that the dealer said I would have to remove my aftermarket downpipe, centre, BB and Blitz induction kit so that Prodrive would fit it.
I would then have the additional expense of fitting the bits back after.
If this policy was relaxed for breathing mods - I would buy one next week.
Also how about a discount on the PPP as the new shape is out now (Hello Mike)
Rich.

I`ll let ya know what the Unichip is like, im having it fitted to my version 5 TypeR this wednesday.
Really want it to build in a bit of reliability, but if a bit more power comes my way then all the better.

I'm getting the Link fitted by Bob on Saturday to an UK/dutch import MY00 with SS D/P and backbox. Sounds like we have the same taste :_) I'll be up in Angelesey on the Saturday afterwards for a trackday if you want to chat about it (and its a great circuit too - and its a cheap day

Sammy, go for the Link.
Ive had the PPP and like Rannoch has said, its adaptable to your car specific mods, now and in the future. Its not as 110% refined and well-mannnered as the PPP (before anyone starts saying it is.......!) but its a rewriteable ECU as often as you want/need which the PPP isnt.
Harj, what are u like...........

To Davvers :
I'm thinking about the Link from Bob too
Seeing as we don't live far apart, and we have the same car, can we meet up sometime to compare performance after you have the link ?
I have the S/S centre section as well as the downpipe and backbox.
Kevin
MY00 555 blue.

I was in the same position.
I gave up on the PPP, as the car was modified as I drove off the forecourt!! Prodrive won't touch a modified car!!
UniChip was interesting, but I gave up on that as I would have to go to Cheltenham to get it fitted and return there if I had any issues.
I decided on the Possum Link, as Bob can fit it in Richmond (about 4 miles from me) After talking to Bob Iles, he says he carries his standard ECU in the the boot, so should the worse happen, he can just change them over!! ( 2 screws according to Bob )
i will be spending my money with Bob Rawle, after the Christmas spending is paid off!!!

Bugwaan,
Then have a word with Jervis, and ask his oppinion !!!!!!!! + a few others I can think of.
Re Link, and Unichip, I wish people would compare "like for like", when comparing prices.
The Unichip is a good product, but as standard, DOESN'T have boost control.....it's extra. Sure you can use a bleed valve, or faff about with restrictors, but it's chalk, and cheese compared to "mappable" boost control.
I know there is a reasonably priced boost controller available (don't know the cost) and this should really be added, to give a realistic price comparison.
Mark.

3 nuts actually Tango man then the screws, however, if you are wise then you will keep the original ECU intact in its case and the Link board in a new case so you dont need to keep opening cases up as well as swapping them in and out the footwell!
Anyhow, stop talking about something you dont have yet!
Now then, which ECU shall i wear today...............decisions, decisions......LOL

Had my Link fitted 2 Sundays back in Richmond by Bob and Branko, added HKS spark plugs, induction kit, 3 port boost selo and a Forge dump valve.
Turbo rocks at 2500 rpm, simpily the way forward.
