an old friend had this on his legacy when we fitted a bleed valve due to boost leak. maybe something simple like a hose leaking.

Had a similar problem with my old RB5 , turned out to be a faulty Lambda Sensor. (£140.00) Car also started to run like a bag of spanners eventually - had to admit I ignored the light for a while. Ooops!

Yes - I had one. It was the sensor itself, not what it was checking.

Is the Lambda sensor in the down pipe or in the manifold?

Hi RAZZ,

What year is the vehicle?

I've been chasing check engine light problems in my RS for over a year, I finally got sick of it and tossed the standard ECU for a Possum Link, problem solved (for me). In the Link manual there is a page titled "Possumlink ECU Grounding Issues (Pre ‘97, V1, 2, 3 WRX and RS Legacy Models)", I'm sure this will relate to the standard computer as well. Link have found a problem with the ground wires deteriorating due to age, one of the earth leads that needs to be replaced is directly related to the check engine light and may be causing your problem.

If you are interested I can scan the page and email it to you.
