Default 300bhp wrx what it costs

Hello, i was wondering what it would take to get my 03 wrx to around 300bhp. Ive been told this is possible, but any more would be a bit risky without internal improvements. is this true, and what do start with.
thanks for any help.

Possibly as much as £2000 or so, but you could do 280bhp for a lot less as you wouldn't need to change the turbo etc, etc.

For 280 bhp - decat exhaust with Sportcat in down-pipe - £500 & Remap of ECU - £600 or a bit less.

As andy said for the 280 bhp plus a VF turbo for around £200 - £300 or a TD05FE, you may want to uprate the fuel pump as well £80. That should see you get 300 bhp possibly even more.

I reckon you could do it for £1500 if you shop around and use group buys

If you have an exhaust already then just take that off the price.

Okay here wae go and these are the prices I should have payed on not the beg steal borrow prices.

Decat exhaust 300
TD05 20g plus equal length headers 900
RCM induction kit 350
Remap at power station 800
STI genome back box 200

Plus brakes wheels etc etc

And that makes the grand total of 330BHP and 380 Nm torque, which is nice!!

Absolutely fine, as long as you take good care of it with regards to servicing etc..!

Many SN members have been running 350+ on std WRX internals, with hard use, for a couple of years in some cases. Check out Andy F's project WRX findings (BTW that particular car, with another owner, is now running c400bhp, 20g, and has run many 'hard' 1/4's without incident..!) . Mine has been c340x330 since June 06 without any problems...

PS the newage gearbox is also well up to 350..!

If a VF Series is fitted the consensus seems to be that it's safer to fit an Sti Intercooler and injectors, which together, 2nd hand, would be about £400.
Hence quite a big difference pricewise between 280bhp and above. Vf35 and all the mods described would amount to perhaps 340bhp.

Jason, how many Newage WRX owners on Scoobynet do you reckon are running, say, over 330bhp on the std gearbox ?
