Default Jerking when changing up

I thought it was me not being used to the power of a scooby, but now am thinking it could be the clutch.

Basically when Im pulling off from 1st and changing into 2nd, there is a jerk.
Gear changes are not smooth, and the only way I can get smooth gear change is by letting go of the clutch slowly, or giving it more gas.

Gear changes at 40+mph are fine, so to are changing down.

Anyone diagnose the problem here? Thanks

but if it was a recirc AM one it wouldn't cause the jerk, so is a bit moot?

lets a load of metered air out into atmosphere, massive overfuel, pop, you're off again.

Could it be the old clutch shudder? Colder weather has made mine worse....

What age is it?

I must admit, I notice mine doesn't enjoying pulling away with low rev's (if your in traffic and try to slowly drive along in 2nd, it shudders like mad!) I notice once mine is warmed up the gear changing is much smoother. I just put it down to the characteristics (sp) TBH..... High performance car and all that.
I had it checked over when I first got it, and the only thing that was mentioned to keep an eye on was the brake discs and the Cam Belt was changed & Oil Changed, other than that, was given the all clear.

when i'm nailing it though the gears its like i'm riding the clutch a bit, the revs blip up then drop as the change is completed, i've been driving Imprezas for years now, anyone else had this or does my gear changing need fine tuning!

cheers

Mickey

boobiman,

doesn't sound like clutch judder / shudder. What year is ur motor? Does it only happen when cold.

EMEM - You have clutch shudder - if you hadv'e caught it during the warranty period Subaru would've replaced it under warranty after some encouragement. There's detail in the history on here.
