Default Check engine light, a little help!!!

I have a 93WRX JDM wagon, after about 5 min driving the check engine light comes on for a second or so, dont see it again for the rest of the jorney, seams to do this most every trip, but only from a cold start, sometimes it can be seen when the engine is a little warm but shows up earler.

I thought this might just be the ECU coming of the cold start settings or could this be somthing that requires further attention???

Would the light not stay on if there was a fault?? It goes out after a second.

Disconnect your maff sensor if the engine stalls straight away then your maff is fine and its something else, do you have a BOV (dump valve) I got one and it caused the light to come on I just tightend it up and its fine no problems since, or try disconnecting your ECU cable in the foot well under the steering wheel area, for a few seconds then turn the engine on again this might reebot the ecu.

I have now checked the ECU fault code, this has come back as 21, Engine coolent temperature sensor. This would explaine the excessive time that steam comes from the exhuast during warm up

First off, anyone know where abouts this sensor is?
Secondly, do you need to reset the ECU after changing the offending item?

look at your airbox, where your air filter goes... the bulge in the large tube that exits the airfilter, (block of wires going to it) is your maf

Coolant sensor is just below where my recirc valve (round thing with the blue hose)by the branch of the manifold (you'll need a torch to find it) should see a brown connector
