Default Power steering pump whine with revs.

As per title my power steering pump has started to whine in sync with the revs! Any idea how to resolve this or is the pump knackered, fluids are fine.

I would suggest you re-check the pwr st fluid again, the whirring is the pump running dry. The common place for the pwr st too loose the fluid from is the steel lines on the rack.

Also the power steering reservoir will carry on taking more fluid once it seems 'full'. Keep putting it in until it starts to go over full.

Will get to Halfords after work then. Is power steering fluid universal? Can I just top it up or does it need bled and refilled like brake fluid? IE Cant mix 2 different fluids.

Want to say thankyou, although the fluid in the reservoir appeared full as it was up to the top, on members advice, I bought some fluid and topped it up yesterday and it took quite a bit of filling and now my whining has stopped!

Thanks again lads and Happy New Year.
