Scooby vs Evo
I'm sure this has been done to death but I'm looking at getting another pokey motor (last one was a Golf R32, sold due to repeated vandalism in Bristol, now live in a safe area again in Cornwall).
Always liked Scoobies but become rather interested in the Evo FQ series of cars, especially the FQ360.
I prefer the look of the Scooby and the interior but the Evos are quicker and seem more sorted chassis wise at the moment.
If it was second hand (not sure yet) it would be official UK import only so a WR1 Scooby or FQ340 (or 320) Evo.
Any advise? Let battle commence...

Chris - Okay. I was hoping for some pros and cons of both but seeing as this is a Scooby forum, I'm sure I probably know the answers from here anyway.
I'll wade through the arguments then...

Probably end up being something silly like "which fits surfboards in best" (the Golf was good, the Astra is superb) or similar.
I shall try and get a test drive of both and decide.

For day to day use, the Scoob wins every time.
The Evo requires servicing more frequently ( every 6,000 miles against 10,000 for a Scoob).
The Evo is a very quick car that IMHO is for racing, full stop. The Scoob is a verseitle bit of kit than can be used for all kinds of thigs other, than being a rapid mode of transport.
Next year, the new Scoob looks to be a much higher BHP, I don't know if this will make as inpractical for everyday motoring.
Scoobys look nicer!

As above really.
Both bonkers, both great fun, both expensive to run etc..
I still believe that the Scooby is the better everyday car and that the Evo is superior on the track!
You pays your money...

TBH I received such good service from Subaru when I seriously looked at getting an STI (I got the R32 in the end) that I do feel a kind of loyalty plus I like the fact that they are now using a 2.5 litre lump too.
Hmmm....

you'll have to drive them both obviously. Scooby is more involving for the driver - i've never been able to play with Evos balance on the limit regardless of what the magazines say. Evos in my experience are more twitchy but also the more focused machine.
Drive them back to back and you'll pick the Evo everytime. They have that X factor.

considered both before buying my STI. Agree with a previous reply, that a scooby would probably be easier to live with as a day to day car, plus service intervals not so frequent on a scoob. You are looking at 4500 mile intervals on an evo, against 10k for the subaru.
Impreza RB320 is certainly worth a look if you are considering buying new, and should hold its value better than a regular STI, due to its liited numbers .

If you want praticality then cant go wrong with a scooby wagon and some don't look bad either!!!
You can get an Evo wagon but only import.
Scoobs much more of a civilised ride on rubbish roads, Evo's are always a bit hard I think.
Running costs are much of a muchness but serviceing on Evo is more and more frequent!!
Just and opinion

scoobys im my opinion r more reliable and will therefor have slightly lower runnin costs,i went through all this last year and ended up goin for a blob eyed sti, just a note of caution i was told by a big tunner that they have had a few wr1's on the rollers and nun of them r reachin wot subaru say they will,he even went as far as too say some where runnin less power in standard form than an sti, just somethin to think bout when u consider how much dearer wr1's r,im sure il git alot of commonts bout this but im only passin on invo i got to try and help others.

You want a JDM spec c mate because the uk cars are Shi't.
Have a look at my stocklist theres a type ra in there with 350bhp/360 ltb which is quicker then the evo 9 gt i had running 380/360ltb.

Ive had both and also drove a lot of different types of both. I can honestly say if you want an everyday car with a bit of poke then get the subaru. If you want something that CAN be an everyday car but can also be treated like a race car then get the evo (fq400 exempt).
Evo servicing is expensive only if you use the main dealers. If you find a reputable specialist the bills will be a third of the price or even less.

Sorry dude, but apart from the looks, the Scooby is the "d0gs B0ll0cks"!
End of story!
You have heard of Jonh Wayne, have you not? It is as simple that, no more conversation!

What about the Legnum? For an estate they look gorgeous (imo). But at the end of the day it's your decision, you will buy what you want and nobody else. Take into account the running costs of both, the garage/dealer price for labour etc. If you can afford it then have it
I think as a standard car, normally the Evo's (later models, 5 onwards) look nicer than standard scoobs, but if you want o modify the exterior then there are some lovely looking scoobs about that are very subtle.
At the end of the day, it's your decision and your preference

what's obvious? the fact that you would get a different opinion or the probable fact that you would get a biased opinion?
My comment was despite this being a impreza forum that the comments had been fairly balanced.
The poster should go to MLR to seek their opinions, even if it is to browse and not necessarily post the same entitled topic..
I would personally recommend that all people visit the site and have a giggle at how a majority of people on the side deride the scooby and it's owners...

A lot of evo drivers have came from the subaru fold as it is seen by a lot as a natural progression...
