Cool

All i noted was there suggestion that a scooby is a good, relatively, cheap super car alternative, now surely u can't disagree with that can u? So come on it could be worse it could be PULLING POWER, now that is a hideous car programme if ever there was one!Si

Didn't they actually say that you can get a P plate WRX for £10k and then said steer clear of imports!

For the price of any of those cars you can have some real fun and do competitive racing/rallying for a season or two with a half decent vehicle.

They had to get this edition out quick because the new STI will render them all obsolete dinosaurs. On all but the straightest, longest and driest of tracks the STI looks like it will beat them all.

These cars are all inappropriate in an age of cost cutting where maximum quality and performance are being squeezed out on a realistic budget - to buy them you have to be filthy rich or stupid. This especially in view of the price of the STI which is stunning for the UK.

I couldn't believe the guy - who has a Ferrari 550 - saying the Noble was only good as a second car! Like the 550 is practical everyday transport.

I'm also amazed that 2 Jordan guys has the ***** to pick the Ferrari. Why do so many people like the TVR? Great car until - sorry *when* - it breaks down or rains. Can't say I've seen many Porsche's with the bonnet(boot) up at the side of the road.

yeah, prog was good, apart from the 'avoid imports' bit on getting a used supercar, would have liked to know why to avoid one? cos they're all nicked? not easy to insure? all the arguments I've heard before?

like the M12 as well, nice trackday tool.

Think it explains why Jordan aren't cutting it at the moment if all their team think a TVR is the ultimate supercar.

Craig H,
What else can u get for £48k new as fast as a TVR Tuscan? and as jaw dropping, the Porsche and Ferrari were at least double the price of the Tuscan.
Dont forget u can pick up a 4.5 Cerbera for £20k= 0-100 in 9 secs!
dont knock em!
Pete.

I knew there'd be a "Driven is cr@p" thread today! I think my good lady is getting a bit frightened by the amount that I shout at the TV during this garbage. Why do I watch, I hear you ask. I'm not sure I know the answer to that one.

Why do they pretend their Driven 100 is anything approaching scientific. They discuss the merits then award points completely according to what their opinions obviously were already. Ferrari gets 2, TVR 9 so lets give them the same number of points.

And as for advising to only get an Integrale that had been LHD to RHD converted - idiots!

The Driven 100 = we like it so it wins.

Top Gear is now sponsered by Ford or so it seems.

Pulling Power... just awful, I saw it once and wondered why it was being made. An ADI drivinf a Ford Explorer wearind black leather driving gloves trying out the Prodrive stability system. After sort of proving the system made the Exploere stay on the road in simulated black ice, he attacked Prodrive for making a system that would cause people to go faster!

Complete waste of air time!

Rob B,
I'm not 100 percent sure on that 'grale comment, I *thought* I heard it as you said, ie; 'make sure it's been RHDed' but I've videoed it and will double check as I'm pretty sure it was said 'DON'T get a RHD as it might not have been done with proper parts'

but then what do I know!

nice to see the pics of the scoob were the MY01, and they were going on about getting one for 10k, oh yeah? if you can get a MY01 WRX for 10k then I'd have got one!

There should have been a 'reliability' section but the 911 should have won anyway. Z75, are you sure an STi could beat a 911 Turbo with the same driver? It has 4 wheel drive too you know, and almost twice the power and torque (literally).

As car progs go Driven is the best I think. If you want to see how bad things can get take a look at 'Carnage' on Bravo, it's eyebrow tape, dodgy blonde Essex girls in tarted up Escort diesels (or tarted up Essex girls in dodgy Escort diesels) and spangly air fresheners all round

Steve.

Noble M12 is about as quick as a Tuscan and a far sweeter handler. Bet the build quality is a step up too.....doesn't look or sound as nice as the TVR though....

I think a new 911 Turbo would eat a new std STI for breakfast on most tracks - 911 Turbos are very very quick and handle very nicely..

Cool

Sorry, slow to catch up with this thread

Grahame - might have known you'd approve
RobW - nope, sticking with my Scoob thanks Couldn't afford £50k if I wanted to anyway

Agree with most of the comments above... Interestingly, all of the choices made by the Jordan people were totally genuine, having talked to the people concerned off camera. We're not under the thumb that much Although all three cars were terrific, for the Ferrari, I couldn't justify spending that much on a car that I didn't feel was all that special over the other two. Also, the build quality wasn't great - the welding in the engine bay (which is open to the air, and visible through glass on the 'boot') is appalling, with over-weld all over the place. Not impressive

Talking to the presenters off camera, they all agreed that the Porker was the best to drive - all three (including Plato) loved it. They hated the semi-auto system on the Ferrari, and all loved the TVR's no-frills fun.

When they'd finished, they left the Ferrari in the Jordan factory overnight as they weren't insured to drive it back Gave us lots of chance to have a good look at it but they took the keys away after a bit

By the way, all the mechanics wear the green outfits at Jordan, and the non-mechanics wear other stuff (like me).

Regarding the Integrale bit - he said "if you're getting a RHD then be careful - get someone who knows to check it over as it could be a LHD to RHD conversion and it may not have been done by a pukka dealer" or words to that effect.

Disagree about the TVR breaking down all the time - these days they're generally pretty reliable (flame-suit on )

And to everyone who dislikes the programme... don't watch it No-one makes you!

Cheers
Richard
