Not that iv heard, was it ever rebuilt in that time, or did it manage that kind of mileage, with just servicing etc.

Not heard of more from an impreza but my old man had an isuzu trooper 2.8TD with then engine still going stong at 285k miles. He used it offroad in river water for most of its life and the chassis ended up rotting with the engine still ticking over a treat.

So you had a standard engine with no modifactions running 320bhp and it covered 153000 miles without anything being changed(apart from the main part..... the crank)before it died!!!!!!

Yup LOL. And if it was done properly, it would have had new bearing shells too - and which bit wears out first?

So how long did it last on current crank?

And, unlike Mr Lewis, you cannot spell

Nice to see an Engine doing such big mileages even if modded - mine should be good for 250,000miles I guess?

right... so let me get this right......

something went wrong with the engine at 120k miles.(went bang)

you had to replace the crank(main part of engine)

but it went for another 30k miles on the new parts..................

well done on the engine doing 120k miles(very good)

well done on replacing the parts and it lasted another 30k miles.

im not trying to take the p**s but im only saying what im reading!!!!!!!!!

my engine never went bang, i was driving slowly and the cam pulley came off, i was advised to get the whole crank changed as the woodraft key was knackered as well, the engine would of worked if i just replaced the cam pulley with a new one but the same thing would of happend again over time

161k on MY93 WRX, full decat and ScoobyECU.

Despite the abuse it's had, I've only just had the original clutch changed!!

220K on a legacy turbo before I let the oil go too low during a spirited run. That's when Subaru's actually had proper reliability.
Have seen a Merc E300 24V with in excess of 400K before needing a block change due to corrosion in the water ways.

Subaru High Mileage Club makes one think they will be ALL Scoobys - Scooby is a nickname for SUBARU - not IMPREZA!
