Default Some important advice please guys...

Hi people,

Right i'm in a bit of a dilema at the moment and will try to explain the situation as quickly and as simple as possible:

Unfortunatly I'm having to look to trade my scooby for something cheaper to run, so I advrtised my uk sti on pistonheads for 13,400 with the option to part ex for a cheaper car.

So late last week a guy emailed me saying he was interested inpart ex'ing his astra gsi for mine plus 5k in cash.

Good deal I thought, as it's an 04 plate with low milage and a few subtle mods - exactly what i'm looking for.
At the begining he insisted on having an hpi check and rac inspection on my car which I have no problems with, he mentioned it was because he had just been 'stung' with another scooby from a dealership - basiacly they sold it to him as hpi clear and it turned out to of been in a big smash up once he had an rac inspection on the car and it was worthless.
I didn't think this would be a problem and didn't think for a second that the astra would of been part of the deal so the guy comes out with it a couple of days later that he actually part ex'd the astra for the scooby plus some cash so since then the garage put the astra on the fourcourt and for sale and I was told that someone put a deposit on it and signed a contract.

Apparently the garage told him he would get the full cash balance back or the astra back and the differance in cash, and later this afternoon he emaild me again to say the garage have given him the astra back and some but not all of the cash.

He still wants to part ex his astra and pay the cash ammount we agreed on, but i'm feeling a little bit warey now and don't know wether to trust this guy or dismiss it as 'one of those thing's that happens'.

I mean, if I get the car hp checked and looked over with an RAC inspection, will I be safe?
I have asked him the inevitable question - what did the garage do with the client that paid the deposit for the astra? And asked for that garages contact number so I can confirm there's no strings attached to the astra.

Any experiance or advice would be most welcome, as this is a nightmare but a good offer it' more stressful than when I sold my house!

Bakerboy out.

ok, just got an email back which seems to contradict istelf:

Basically Im fairly certain there isn't another person involved and
that's the problem im having now. He's basically not keen on taking back
the buggered Scooby because as far as he is concerned he sold me an HPI
cleared car that passed an MOT and was thus road worthy. He is screwing me for some of the cash that's involved but that's something im prepared to
take the hit on so that I can get rid of this Scooby and make the Astra
available for you and in retrun your Scooby for me.

I can promise you faithfully this is not the case. No-one has anything
legally binding on the car because if they did - well lets face it there's
no way he would be able to return it to me.

What the hell? I think i'm going to avoid this now...

Thanks guys, I don't want any hard feelings at the end of the day so I closed the deal politely..

After much thinking i've decided i'm going to keep the scoob, she's worth the overtime and i wanna mod her soon...
