Default Newbie says "Hi" and says "Help"

Would like to say hello to you all. I currently own an 04 wrx sti and love it to bits. However recently the car seems to be behaving quite unusual.

When i drive the car through boost in 1st and 2nd the car is fine and pulls as normal however when i get past 4500rpm in third the revs fly high put the car doesnt pull or increase very much in speed. Its like the car is reving high but not going and when i put it into 4th the same thing happens.

This has happened a number of times but doesnt happen all the time. Im not sure what it could be but know that its never happened before. Planning on booking the car in for a check at a local turbo centre...however thought you scooby gurus could shed some light on the situation before hand.

Thanks for all your time and nice to meet you all.

If it was the clutch which i think it might be, would it not do this in 1st or 2nd? or would it only start to slip when the car is higher power when boosting into 3rd and 4th?

No, clutch slip is almost always noticed in higher gears first as the clutch is working harder in taller gears as the car cannot accelerate the same as in lower gears, this has the effect of allowing the car to catch up in low gears but as it pulls against the greater "loads" of a taller gear its going to give.
i know i have not explained this well but it is what happens. hth.
