Default No Acceleration

No acceleration in the car today Each time i tap the accelerator it revs from 2 to 4 but it doesnt speed up. Only drives around the 40-60 mark with momentum.

Any ideas of what could cause this?

No, just slipping so not transfering the full power to the drivetrain. do the revs rise but the car doesn't accelerate or does it just feel down on power?

Is your car an auto?
If it is it could have(does have g/box fault).
If it is a man. it really sound like clutch slip, if you get to a clear road take the car to around 40 mph in third make sure your foot is off the clutch pedal and acc. hard if the revs really rise(both sound and rev. counter) and your road speed does not rise dramatically then the most likely reason is a worn clutch, this is reasonably inexpensive to correct.
Dramatic clunky noises (loud and vibration) could be a broken/damaged driveshaft/diff. problem but this is almost exclusively a problem on heavily modded cars. hth.

£7-900 quid, you may need the flywheel replacing (most people have this done at the same time) hence the expense.

Depends whether you can do the job(or know someone who can) the parts can cost from around £80/£300 depending on what model your car is and a half day(ish) labour in a garage, get someone who has done them before as thay are not difficult but there are a few parts in the job that experience really helps.
Where are you, unlikely but if you are local to me (SW Scotland), my local boy charges me £50/£250 fitting(he is a friend tho.)
