Default not as it seems...

this isnt advertising for ebay, as i came across this and it doesnt add up. a 1997 pre facelift subaru? have a read up. eBay.co.uk: 1997 SUBARU IMPREZA TURBO WHITE LTD NO RESERVE STI WRX (item 110044579086 end time 26-Oct-06 14:48:52 BST)

i asked the following question...

theres something fishy about this sale mate, as the front end is off a pre facelift impreza (92-96) so how is it a 97 r reg? is the car totally legit or is it a bit dodgy? something doesnt add up, as the early classics were changed to the more modern headlight configuration in 1996 on the p-plate.

good luck anyway

andy

to which was replied...

are u interested or wasting my time ?

i imagine my first question was a little blunt so i replied this...

nope im not interested to be honest, just warning incase the car isnt what it seems, as i was stung with a rotbox of a subaru the last time i bought one, and wouldnt want it to happen to anybody else thats all... apologies if i offended.

Its got 94 WRX seats in it.
So all looks a bit cobbled together. Looks like it has been cobbled together well though so might be a good car.

thats what i was thinking as there is a lot of reciepts there, so how many cars is it bundled into one? and what would you insure it as? could be interesting. as stated above i was curious if anything that a pre face life 1997 existed ...

see if it sells.

Insure it as a UK turbo, because that is almost certainly what it is.
All black sills and door handles plus the real give away, that little piece of stuck on black plastic in front of the rear wheel arch. Only UK cars had this and I am sure nobody would stick it on a WRX or STi because it was a waste of time.
Apart from that, it has just had a load of WRX parts put on it to raise the stakes a bit.
IMO, a lot of car with a lot of good gear on it.

BTW, you could get pre facelift bumpers all the way through to early 98 with some of the pre facelift cars (lamps and bonnet) being sold as late as August/Sept 1997 (R reg), I had a mate who bought one of these and was really pissed when he realised that he could have had a later style one, albeit at more money because they were selling of the prefacelift's cheaper.

Not sure about why he has put that in
Have a look at the interior shots and you will also see the UK heater control panel (cable operated not electric) and the headlamp adjuster at the rear of the centre consul, neither of these were on WRX's of any year.

dont matter what it is, the price is too high anyway

the only person who would buy it would be a young person who would insure it as a sport which is unfortunate for whoever is involved in an accident with him/her

I'd be tempted to look elsewhere...97 shell? 94 interior? WRX engine? For that money you could get a legitimate standard car. Is the FSH on the shell reg no or the WRX engine. Which other parts have been serviced etc. A car ringers dream whoever buys that

Its like the majority of older Imprezas on eBay; mis-described by an ignorant/dishonest f*ckwit. Caveat emptor.
