Change of car......................
#1
Thinking of changing the Scoob for a Mitsubishi 3000GT, the twin turbo. Some of you must have owned this car or know someone who does, so my question is what are they like.
Is the drive similar in handling and power ?
I know the interior will be more cramped but will my two young boys fit in the back ?
Is the insurance comparable ?
Are grey imports to be considered ?
Any comments will be gratefully received.
Regards Mark

Had a GTO (that's the grey import name).
Lots of power. Get a fully speccc'd one4WS and the like.
Handling is very good. The car does pretty much everything for you, and for this they got a bad write up. People mis-understood, when the press said it wasn't a drivers car it wasn't because it handled badly just the opposite but the driver had no involvement!
Got a facelift model 94> with the 6 spd manual.
Fuel consuption, ha yeah, ave about 25, so not too bad.
Gery imports are now serviced by Mitsubishi (they even sell greys now) so there are no problems on that front. In fact I can't really see the difference between buying a GTO or 3000GT these days (except the GTo will be cheaper).
I bought mine 2 years ago direct from Japan only had it a few months sold it for 2k more than I bought it for!

I had one and the above comments are right. They handle superbly, but TOOOOOO efficiently. You never seem to run out of grip, just road!!! They are v.quick, smooth, comfortable (unless you set the suspension on "sport" all the time) Servicing aint too bad (but the 45,000 service bill is huge (cambelt etc)). The main complaint about the car is that it was tooo heavy. If it had been lighter it would have really moved. You can also tune them pretty easy (a straight through exhaust adds about 30-40 bhp alone so I'm told) Insurance was steep, they are a group 20+.
Take the Mitsubishi badges off and people think you drive a Ferrari! They really turn heads.
